Thursday Racing UK and Ireland

Doncaster 3.00 Wild Irish Rose 11/1

This is a pretty soft group 2 in my opinion and although Dubka and Natural Scenery look to be progressive I think that the three year old Wild Irish Rose is the bet in here for Aidan Obrien and Wayne Lordan. This horse caught the eye in a listed fillies event at leopardstown on her third last start when backed off the boards and getting a very confident ride by Seamie Heffernan sweeping the whole field and winning cosily on the line. I think she ran poorly last twice but the step back up in trip should help and the price is reflecting those 2 poor runs

Re: Thursday Racing UK and Ireland

Andrea Atzeni has a fantastic record at Doncaster and won on his only ride there today. Of his three on Thursday I'll have a go ew with Laugh A Minute at 22/1 in the 3.35 with bet365 paying four places. Placed in all three starts including on softer going and drawn in stall 3 which looked like a plus on evidence on today's races,

Re: Thursday Racing UK and Ireland

300 £5 ew 11/1 Detailed. Not an obvious choice given that she was unable to win a maiden but her rating has moved up from 65 in April to 99 following her latest easy win over only 10f. She won going away over 12f previously and will hopefully find further improvement for another 2 furlongs. Appreciate a step up from handicaps to a Group 2 is unlikely but the filly must be tough as old boots having raced 8 times already this year and clearly likes the mud. The 3 year old weight allowance is a plus as is having Mr Atzeni on board for the first time.

Re: Thursday Racing UK and Ireland

Donny 2.25

Billesdon Brook 5/1 each way

Progressive 2 year old taking the prestige stakes at Goodwood, not much in it on previous form with some of these but this one can improve further for the extra distance here and is a game little filly with form on soft going.

Small saver Miss Bar Beach at 20/1 ew who was flying home the last time in the prestige stakes what brook won and won her maiden on soft and with the extra distance could also be involved.

Donny 3.35

Great Prospector 9/2 each way

Well regarded by Fahey and clearly has the best form in the race along with Tangled but think this one can improve past that one for the extra distance today, has dewhurst entry next month and also irish 2000 guineas next year, should make a bold go of it here and go on to better things.

Re: Thursday Racing UK and Ireland

Listowel Thursday Bets- A few bets on the card today

2.05 Shamad 7/4

Shamad has border line listed form with the likes of Eagle Spirit and True Valour and even a good run last year behind Utah. Weld yard has hit better form now and could be a different proposition in an easier race

2.40 Intense Stylist 9/1

Was a big price here on Monday but loved the heavy ground to win nicely and score by just about 4 lengths. That run was quite clearly an improved effort on recent form but I think this is the fillies ideal conditions and with just the 6lbs penalty to contend easily a case to be made that this horse is too big at the prices now

3.15 Like A Demon 80/1

Might be just completely out of his depth in here but definitely one to keep an eye on as the season goes on and the jumps start back up again, I think really well handicapped over hurdles and might be able to run into a place here at a massive price

3.50 Bayan 11/4

Really high class horse on his day for Gordon Elliott and ATRs Gary Obrien. Has been placed in some high class handicaps and even won the ladbroke at Ascot, back from injury and good place at Killarney last time out big chance here

Re: Thursday Racing UK and Ireland

Rachel Richardson has an advantage over many of the riders in the opener at Donny in that she knows her mount so well having won 3 and placed 5 from 15 rides. The horse is a CD winner, is in form (won lto) and this is his time of year as 50% (4/8) of his victories have come in the month of September.

Re: Thursday Racing UK and Ireland

4.35 Doncaster - What A Home
Won LTO even when slipping up and getting caught in all sorts of trouble. Should easily follow up.

4.30 Chepstow - Meyandi
Won comfortably LTO over C/D and gets in without a penalty (due to rise 9lbs). Same apprentice on board and should have the beating of these.

short price double pays 2.16/1 @bet365

Nothing stand out today so just a doubles bet with the following:

D 1.50 The Mums 11/4
D 2.25 tajaanus 5/1
D 3.35 Great Prospector 7/2
D 4.05 Eugino 3/1

Thanks chaps, nice to hit the mark at a decent price now and again !

And belated well done broadway on your 1-3-4 in the Kerry National, outstanding tipping in such a tricky handicap, and pk also on another nice winner yesterday.
